Television has completely distorted our view on real life and what it means to be a woman. Take The Real Housewives series’ for example. The women on these shows lead a life of secrecy, jealousy, and selfishness. They are so “over the top”.  The problem is God has never asked or told us to live that way.

She picks a field and buys it and she plants a vineyard from the profit. Her lamp burns late at night. She opens her hands to the oppressed people and stretches them out to the needy. Proverbs 31:16-19

God’s plan for women (and men for that matter) is to be prosperous and generous. The Real Housewives of this world are called to greater things than a day at the spa and a $10,000 diamond bracelet. They are relational, they are nurturing, and they are selfless. God has big plans for a big life for those who will remember his people through the busyness of life and he has designed women with that in mind. Why else would they be such remarkable multi-taskers?  To reach and love the people in their world… while making your dinner, doing your laundry, and vacuuming the house all at once!

In a fast-paced world where self-centeredness is just a manicure away, I find I constantly need to remind myself of why God has placed me here; that His purpose gives me significance.
