Think Fast
I'm not fasting to try to gain merit with God that was already established through Christ dying on the cross. That work is finished.
I'm not fasting to lose weight or cleanse my system. I'm ok with that because dieting doesn't work anyway.
I'm not fasting to look more spiritual in the eyes of others. That's good too, because there will always be someone more spiritual than me anyway.
So, why am I doing this? Fasting promotes the sanctification of your life and the church resulting in accomplishing the purposes of God in society.
Fasting confronts apathy in our life, restoring our ability to feel again. When we feel, we take action.
Fasting allows us to be led by the Spirit of God and not the soul of man. This is a much more reliable way of doing life. Our own emotions are the last thing we need to take direction from. God's Spirit, however, is the perfect leader.
Want a breakthrough in your life? Fasting will bring one, or more. Victory is empowered by fasting. Why? How? Who really cares!
In the end, as long as it's less of me and more of God only great things will come. Bring it on!
